King Crimson has played what Robert Fripp says is its last show in America. After some upcoming dates in other countries, is this the conclusion of KC? Fripp has ended the band many times, only to re-emerge every few years with a completely new idea, sound, and lineup — as this current one, a 7- (sometimes 8) headed beast with three drummers (and focusing only on reinterpretations of previous music). But this time feels different. Fripp, god that he is, must be facing the effects of advancing age. I don’t doubt that he’ll keep making music, but I think we have seen the end of King Crimson. More than 50 years, 4 (maybe 5) distinct “bands” and sounds. A good ride.

I’m so glad I had the pleasure of finally seeing the band a few years ago.
