KC2014

King Crimson’s Live at the Orpheum is a nice little live snapshot of the new seven-person, three-drummer lineup, including Mel Collins who hasn’t been with the band for decades. The nicest surprise is the inclusion of older Crim songs “The Letters” and “Sailor’s Tale,” which were my favorites from theĀ under appreciated album Islands. “One More Red Nightmare” is an interesting take on a mid 70s Wetton cut, and the set finishes with the greatest KC piece of all, “Starless.”

The short CD (do they still call them EPs?) was recorded September 30 and October 1, 2014 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.

If you’re a fan, pick it up.
