First there were contact lenses you could wear for a day. Then there were lenses you could leave in for a whole week. And now there are ones you can wear for a month. But for a whole year?
Meet Liu, a 40-year-old Chinese man. He started wearing contacts a year ago, but he never took them out, because even though the lenses were soft, removing them was hard. He soon found that his eyesight was getting worse, so he bought another pair of lenses and put them in his eyes on top of the old ones.
His vision only got more blurry. So he put on a third pair!
Finally, when his eyes couldn’t take it anymore, he went to the eye doctor. The doctor removed the outer pair, and then the middle pair, but the first, year-old pair had grown into his eyes! Surgery finally got them out.
